Whether they are furry, feathery, or scaly, you probably consider your pet a member of the family. With all that unconditional love people have for their pets, it’s no wonder America celebrates National Pet Day on April 11th.

How can you celebrate this National Pet Day!

• If you don’t have a pet and are looking for one, check out your local animal shelter and adopt one! Sadly there are so many neglected and unwanted animals waiting for love and attention! Remember to adopt don’t shop, you’ll be saving a life! When you adopt you will not only be giving a loving animal a new home, you’ll also be opening up space for another animal who might desperately need it.
• Animal shelters offend look for volunteers and supply donations! Check your local shelter and consider donating the following: pet foods, treats, towels, blankets, old newspapers, toys, cleaning supplies as well as your time!
• Create a new toy for your pet! An old sock and a plastic water bottle can go a long way for a dog! Take an old t-shirt, cut it up in three strips, braid it and now you have a new tug of war toy for your dog!
• Bust out your camera or smartphone and have a photo with your pet! Take photos of pet, post them on social media and print and display them around your home. It’s great to take photos of your pets to watch how much they have grown in any amount of time.
