Comcast Xfinity X1 live broadcast channels, DVR, and video-on-demand without the cable box.
Comcast and Roku have announced beta testing for the Xfinity TV app available on Roku devices. You can find it in the channel store on most recent Roku devices. An official launch is expected later this year after Comcast verifies the app’s performance and adds features.
You can expect the complete Xfinity experience you’re used to with traditional cable boxes including DVR, except everything is done through the Roku app, which could save you money by not having to rent additional cable boxes. And for heavy Internet users, it won’t count against Comcast’s 1TB data limit for Internet subscribers.
At launch the beta app is currently compatible with the following Roku models: Roku Express, Roku Express+, Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600), Roku Premiere, Roku Premiere+, Roku Ultra, Roku 4 (model 4400), Roku 3 (model 4230 and 4200), and Roku 2 (model 4210).
